1. Opt for profiled posts :

The choice of staking posts is no longer simply a matter of choosing raw steel angle-iron: there are profiled posts offering far more efficient staking solutions meeting cost reductions in the long-term:

  • · The profiled posts is ready to use and there is no reason to add accessories as there is with angle-iron: clips or notches are already provided every 10 cm The height of the supporting and lifting wires can be chosen and changed very quickly depending on how the vine grows.
  • · Profiled posts are also galvanized to protect them from corrosion; this makes them very long-lasting.

2. Choose hot galvanization :

Galvanization means protecting the posts from corrosion. We offer 3 Sendzimir protection grades: Z275, Z450 and Z600 and hot-dip galvanization. The level of galvanization is calculated in grams per square meter. The higher the number, the better the protection.

We advise choosing a high galvanizing grade like Z450 Z600 when the soil has a high pH or for salty environments. When the pH of the soil is neutral, a lower galvanizing level will do, for instance type Z275.

Galvanising life duration: it is estimated that the loss of microns is 1 / 1.5 µm* microns each year although this can vary depending on the acidity of the soil and the salt content of the air. *1µm=7 grams

What you need to bear in mind :
Post life duration = Life of raw steel + Life of galvanizing

3. Which post for what type of soil ?

Our range has been designed to suit every type of soil. We recommend that you use:

  • L30 for land that is difficult and stony; its compact form will facilitate penetration into the soil.

  • L50 or E50 for land with a high sand or clay content; the large sections will provide considerable stability in the ground. LF50 is also designed for this type of land and to support tall-standing staking.

  • F50 is designed for any type of land as an end post, ensuring high stability for the staking out of your vine.

4. How to install posts ?

We advise you to use a post driver ram or a driving template available as accessories; naturally, you can also use a machine for mechanical planting. To simplified penetration into the soil, it is possible to use a water planter or a perforator. The intervals between posts should not be more than 5 m to ensure suitable retention of the vine and stability of the wires.

5. Storage

If you decide not to sink your posts after purchase, for instance after warehousing and the dealer's, we advise you to store the profile pallets on an angle as shown below to prevent a white rust from appearing, caused by damp on the galvanizing of the profiles. The tilting angle allows air to circulate freely, preventing this phenomenon from occurring. Galvanized profiles must not come into contact with chemicals or untreated steels which could damage the zinc.
